When was the last time you visited your dentist?
As we have already mentioned before, the recommended routine visit to the dentist is at least every 6 months. This applies to both children and adults.
Enjoying good oral health should be something basic in our lives and something really important, as well as brushing our teeth and flossing after every meal. However, there are areas that are difficult to reach even with all this care, so it is important to go to a dental professional to help us with it.
Importance of a Dental Cleaning
One of the greatest benefits of performing this dental procedure is to avoid the mineralization of the bacterial plaque turning into tartar, which is impossible to clean with daily brushing, if this continues to progress it can cause gingival diseases, since the plaque can expand under the gums causing inflammation and serious irritation that can be chronic in the body, consequently this systematically destroys the gum and bone tissue causing the teeth to move, be unstable or fall out. Another accompanying effect is halitosis (bad breath).
This procedure consists of 3 stages
- The first phase of “scraping”, in which the plaque and tartar are removed.
- The next phase is to polish the teeth so that the surface is really smooth. Although polishing removes stains and leaves teeth smooth and shiny, it is not just a cosmetic procedure. Since it eliminates the bacteria that could remain from the scraping.
- The third phase, an antimicrobial cream is applied to the gums, if necessary, which helps them heal healthily and quickly. It’s also a good idea to apply fluoride after your cleaning to help prevent cavities.
